LINEMAN'S CLOVE CALL

MIRACULOUS ESCAPE FROM DEATH. A linesman named E. Waite, employed by the Public Works Department, had a miraculous escape from death. He lives at the Gordon Settlement, where he is engaged on the transmission line from Hora Hora to Waikino, 'and he entered one of the fenced enclosures to do certain work, when he established contact with some of the high tension sear either with the broom he was carrying or his right hand, and received a. severe shock, the wonder being that he was not electrocuted. The shock was so severe, in tact, that tho metal naib in hi 3 boots were molted out, and his escape from death in said to be a case in a thousand. He was removed to tho Waikato Hospital, where he is progressing as well as can bo expected. Hl3 right hand is severely burned.
