NO MORE PASSENGERS
DUNEDIN TO AUCKLAND BY SEA. DECISION OF UNION COMPANY. F-EB PRESS ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN, September 7. The Union Steam Ship Comnany has decided to discontinue the Dunedin-Auck-land passenger 6©rvice,\ which the general manager maintains is being run at heavy loss. There was a disinclination on the part of the travelling public to patronise the boats on this service—the Monowai, Mokoia, and latterly the Navua (which has replaced the Mokoia)—and thev preferred to leave these steamers at Wellington and take tho ferry 6teamors to Lyttelton and como south by train and vie© versa. The passenger service is to be replaced by two cargo vessels, hut it ift, not known when this new service will be comment odi as so many of tho company's boats we're at present engaged in the coal trade. ________________
