MAGISTRATE'S COURT
POLICE AND. SUMMONS CASES. Mr J S. Evans, S.M., occupied tho bench at the Magistrate's Court yesterday, and dealt with offenders as follows: For insobriety, first offenders were dealt with in the customary manner. A youth 18 years of age pleaded guilty to the theft of a wallet containing £\ and papers, and a tobacco pouch, the total'value of £4 15s, the property of Julia Simon. It was stated that while the-lad was on .an errand to the. Union Steam Ship Company's office he was tempted to investigate the pocket of an overcoat, withj the result that he took the wallet. On being aoocsted by Detective Trickle-! .bank he was perfeely frank about thej 'matter, and returned the money. , After admbnishing : the lad His Worship ordered him to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve months. Chief-Detective Ward conducted the prosecution and Mr H. F. O'Leary for the defendant.
