ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS

NEXT ANNUAL EXHIBITION. A fine example of tho work of the well-known Scottish artist, Allan Ramsay, has been lent to the Academy of Fine Arts for exhibition in the Free Public Gallery. Tho work, whioh is a portrait in oils, is to hang in the side room of tho gallery until a rearrangement of tho pictures in tho main gallery can be made. At a recent meeting of the council of tho Academy of Fine Arts it was decided that the next annual exhibition should bo opened on ' September 20th instead of in the customary first week in October. The change has been made in response to representations from the Otago Art Society that works shown the Wellington exhibition in October cannot bo sent on to Dunodin in time for the opening of the southern exhibition on November Ist.
