A CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. A singular claim came bof!ore Mr W. G. iliddell, S.M., yesterday, in which! 11. C. Collins claimed from E. J. Clarke, a confectioner in Maimers street, the sum of £5, which, was offered by defendant to anyono who could i>urchas& confections of equal valuo at any other shop in Manners street. Plaintiff saw the. notice in defendant's window and went and purchased confectionea-y and alleged that the articles purchased were of equal value to those advertised by defendant and consequently claimed tho reward. As no proof w'&s adduced aa to the actual value oF the goods the magistrate nonsuited tho plaintiff with/out hearing the defendant. Mr W. G. Hellish appeared for the plaintiff and Mr 0. C. Mazengarb for the defondant.
