HOUSE OP COMMON'S APPROVES OF ADVANCES. Eeuter's Telegram. (Received August 3, 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, August 2. The House of Commons approved the Supply Vote towards the five million sterling advances in respect of German coal deliveries in order to secure regular deliveries to France. It was pointed out that the vote would not necessitate fresh ■borrowing, as the money would be supplied from actual receipts ULder the reparation clauses of the Peace Treaty. Sir It. Wortbington Evans 6tated that an arrangement for advances was being made in order tp provide the miners with adequate food. Replying to French criticism, he showed the benefits accruing to France while Britain was not receiving a, single, ton, but getting equitable consideration in other directions under the agreement made at Spa. Mr Uoyd George emphasised the necessity for the advances. He said the British representative reported that the people were not receiving within 60 to 70 per cent, of the food they enjoyed before the war.
