HARRIERS

CLUB. Saturday's run took place from Lyail Bay a largo number of runners participating. The trail led along the beach toi a mile, thenc© across the sandhills to tho golf links; from there the crosscountry championshin Sourm «a« followed for about three miles, the pack then making where tho usual run in was held, and resulted—R. Poutawera 1, J. Ureis 2, H. Robinson 3. On Saturday next, at Miramar, the Wellington cross-country championship for the-Whyte and McKay Shield will i,« held. Tha club Jiavo now held the shield on four occasions,' namely, 1911, 1913, ISIS, 1919, the now defunct Wellington Harriers havinj held it five times. The following teams will represent the club on Saturday next:—A team: R. 8011, W. Burk, 15. Todd, N. Smellie, C. Dentice, H. Robinson. B team: P. Harlcn, N. Meech, G. Sherwood, P. Billing, A. Mitchell, T. Collins. . THE OLYMPIC CLUB. Last Saturday the Harriers and some -of their followers to the number of 83 assembled at Mr Pearton*s( senior) residence, Seatoun. The runners, who were divided into several packs, and were despatched at various intervals, followed a course selected by W. Sneddon, T. Wilson, and A. Scarp, which was about seven miles, and embraced the five mile championship course, with the intention of giving the A and B teams a try out prior to the big race next Saturday. The A team ran exceptionally well, especially P. Pearton and A. B. Tracy, with Soratchard always nice and handy. Of the other runners to show good form were. W. Salmon, C. Fraser, W. Workman, and Laurie. . , The run over, tho members were entertained by Mr Pearton and Mrs Pearton in a .manner thev will long remember. Tea over, several gave musical a,nd vocal Items, namely—B. P. Pearton, Carwell, Cook, K. Beaglehoje, and several' others. Before dispersing at about 7.30 p.m. the president, Mr P-hilp, thanked the bo6t and ho'stess. Vive-pre-«iden+ T. H. Wilson endorsing the president's remarks, .Mr. Pearton suitably responded, and said he hoped to do the same next Saturday.
