CARPENTIER V. DEMPSEY
Paris. May 24. —A message from New York to "L'Auto" says that pourparlers have been opened between Georges Carpentiei- and Jack Dompsey with a view to holding a match in the dinted States, perhaps in New York itself, if the two boxers agree to a. fight of 15 rounds, which is the maximum authorised there. The • reason advanced for the proposed change of venue is the big purses offered in tho United States and the advantage to both boxers, because of tho exchange of a contract in dollars. M. Desoamps, Carpentier's manager, telegraphed from New J-°rk: -Expect very soon big news which will cause some talk on both Bides of the ocean."—Router. New York, May 24th.—Carpentiei and "Battling" Levinsky have agreed to meet in a 12 or 15 round bout on July 26th. It has not yet been decided where the fight will take place. —Reuter. _____
