AN HISTORIC SUOY

FROM WRECK OF SHIP HALCIONE. Sirs Frank Dyer has presented a lifobuov from the wreck of the ship Halciohe to the Merchant Service Guild to be hung in the guild’s rooms. The Halciono was wrecked outside Pencarrow head many years ago, and Mrs Dyer then went out to the wreck in the Government steamer Hinemoa, which was then under command of the late Captain Fairchild, with Captain J. Pollens (now master of that vessel) as mate. The lifebuoy was picked up by Captain Bollons and presented to Mrs Dyer.
