CITY MILK SUPPLY
TEMPORARY RELIEF ARRANGEMENTS BETWEEN CITY COUNCIL AND SUPPLIERS. / ——* The new arrangement completed with the Fcathorston Co-operative Dairy Company for the supply to tho city of 050 gallons of milk per day, announced in the House by ihe Hon. E. P. Lee (President of the Board of 'Trade), was explained to a “Now Zealand Times” reporter yesterday by tho ncting-chairnwn of the City Council’s milk committee (Mr IV. H. Bennett). As a result of tho Board of Trade’s agreement with tho Christchurch farmers as to the price to be paid for milk, said Mr Bennett, a conference was held on Thursday morning between himself, representing the council, Mr Ward, the assistant-general manager of the milk supply company, three representatives of the Fcatherstou farmers, and Mr Collins, .secretary of the Board of Trade. Jt was agreed, said Mr Bennett, that the milk available at Feathorston should immediately be sent daily to "Wellington, the price to be paid the farmers to be settled by the Board of Trade after a conference with the parties as soon as tho board returns to Wellington. J It was also resolved that in the meantime the council should agree to an adjournment of the proceedings pending against the Featherston farmers for alleged profiteering.
