LAND SITE IN MANNERS' STREET. It is not generally known that the land on which the Royal Oak stands, together with the remainder of the block, was sot aside many years ago as a future market site. Portion of the latter area is vacant and a suggertipn has been made that it should bo utilised for the building of a temporary market. . The site is one of the most central in tho city, and is said to he admirably adapted for the purpose for which it was originally intended. Years ago, when tho leases ran out. there was considerable opposition to their renewal by the City Council.
