COUNCIL DECLINE APPLICATJON. The Christchurch City Council has refused an application from a responsible body of citizens for permission to erect a War Memorial Column in Cathedral square. A radtion that a plebiscite vote should bo taken on tho several memorial proposals now under consideration was not ‘Seconded. Tho Mayor and several councillors strongly urged general support for the soldiers’ “Hall of Memories” scheme.
