«_.— » CLOSE' OF THE SEASON. CHAMPIONSHIP WINNERS. The management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association nvet last night at the Civil Service Club, the chairman (Mr C- G. Wilson) presiding. Tho winners of the various championships were announced as under : Senior League—Petone. Junior A—Murphy's Pipe Works Team. Junior B —Petono and Y.M.C.A. tied. Third Grade A—Johnsonville B. Third Grade B-*Kdlbirnie. The committee resolved to declare the season closed. A letter was Toceived from the Deserves Committee of the City Council pointing out that some 100 loads of soil would be .needed for top-dressing the Basin Reserve this season. The price per load was stated at 30s. A contribution towards the cost of the soil was asked from the Association.—lt was decided to leave a sub-commiHee to take up the matter with' the reserves committee. A letter was received intimating that it is the intention of the City Council to close th«>. Basin TJeserve to all sports until Juno 12th. after which only' representative football matches will be played there.
