THE FINAL MEETING FOItTY-EIGHT BUILDING PERMITS, VALUE £21,537. * The final meeting of the Karorl Borough Council was held last night, the Mayor (Mr B. G. H. Burn) presiding. The other members present wore Councillors T. A,. Munt, J. W. Henderson, E. Harrison, J. S. Fulton, L G. Porter, F. F. Laurenson, and J. Burns. AMALGAMATION Yv'ITH CITY A letter waa received from the town clerk, Wellington, requesting the Mayor and councillors, the town clerk, and the borough v engineer, to forward cabinet photographs of themselves for inclusion in a .group with the "fellington City Council, as is customary when an amalgamation of an outside borough with the city takes place. Tha council acceded to the request. The amalgamation with the city takes place on the 31st inst. KARORI PARK.. The use of the Karori Park wan granted on the usual condition* to the following schools on the dates named: —Kelburn State School, March 26th; St. Andrew's Prasbyterian Sunday School, March 27th; St. Thomas's Sunday School, April 10th. The Mayor remarked that the park had been requisitioned for Sunday school and other picnics on thirty-sis occasions in all during the year. ENGINEER'S REPORT. In his annual report, the borough engineer (Mr G. "VV. Brigham) stated that the number of buildings had increased as compared with former years, and there was every prospect of a continuation in the erection of buildings, despite the increased cost of material and labour. The building permits to date totalled 48—dwellings 22, garages 6, additions 10, shed 3 7, stables 2, removals 1, representing a total value of £21,537, the fees charged being £96 ss. Resolutions dealing with tho trans, fer. of funds, etc., consequent upon tho amalgamation, were carried. THAiNKS TO STAFF. On the motion of Councillor Henderson, a resolution was passed expressing tho council's hearty appreciation of the loyalty of and the good services rendered by the town clerk (Mr "W. F. England), the borough engineer (Mr G. W. Brigham), and their staffs during the long period of their connection with the borough.
