ANTI-PROFITEERING
WELLINGTON TRIBUNAL'S FIRST SITTING. The first sitting of the Wellington Anti-Profiteering Tribunal—Messrs C. M. Luke (chairman), M. J. Reardon, and A. J. (Maxwell —was held yesterday morning in F committee-room ■ of Ute old Parliamentary buildings.' As previously : announced would bo the case, its proceedings were not open to the Press. A fair number or complaints, it is understood, hare been received. These will be sifted by the committee, which will report upon them, with recommendations, to iho Board of Trade. CONFERENCE OF CHAIRMEN. The chairmen of the Prices Investigating Tribunal, set up in the four chief centres, met in conference at Welllngr ton, together with the members of the Board of Trade this week, and fully discussed the functions and duties of the tribunals, with a view to securing as far aa possible uniform methods of working throughout the Udiuimon. The areas to bo covered by the' different tribunals were defined as under :' — Wellington, all the territory from Wellington up to Napier on the one coast and New Plymouth on the other. Auckland, the provincial district with the addition of Gisborne. Christchurch, all . of the South Island, north of the Waitaki River. Lunedin, the territory south of the Waitaki River, including Southland.
