TIN OR PORCELAIN? ACTION OF EDUCATION BOARD. At yesterday's meeting of the Wellington Education Board the question of whether, teachers should have tin i.vijjs or porcelain baths in their houses arose. It appeared that " certain teacher, like most of the human kind, appreciates a decent tub, and wrote expressing -willingness to pay half tho L'ost- of a porcelain bath. Mr C. I. Harkncfis said that tin l.iiihs were short-lived, and it might be wise to go in for the mare expensive, but more normaueut, article. r l he time had arrived for the board to consider tho question of importing its own ironmongery. Air J. J. Clarke thought the suggestion a good one. The chairman (Mr T. Forsyth) said if the board commenced to install porcelain baths in teachers' residences it would be inundated with similar applications. Mr Rishworth: I don't like the idea of a man having to pay half cost of a decent bath. Mr Forsyth explained that the teacher concerned was likely to remajr.i in tho district and therefore was willing to pay a little to get a bettor bath. The board decided to pay the whole cost of tho bath. The secretary, Mr Stewart, pointed out that the teacher had made the offer himself to enable him to get a better article. Mr Rishworth: I sympathise with the secretary, and commend him for his canniness, but I think we have taken the right action.
