—, MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. A meeting of the Victoria University College Council was held last night, Mr Clement Watson (chairman) presiding. FINANCIAL STATEMENT. The financial statement «howed payments due to the amount of JJ1799 7«; payments made since last meeting, including a progress payment of .£I3OO to Messrs Husband Bros. The balance at the Bank of New Zealand after meeting payments due, was shown as .£526 6s 2d: and that in the Post Office Savings Bank as .£2198 15s 4d: making the total funds at call .£3725 Is 6d. In the Post Office Savings Bank there is also to the credit of the school of economics account £722 14s 6d. CONGRATULATIONS. Mr R. McCallum, M.P., gave notice to move: _"That this University Council of Victoria College desires to place on record its hcartv felicitations to the Otago University over its public celebrations and its high appreciation of tho great record of good work in a pioneering direction so ably performed by thoso Otago (lettlers (including Mr .Tamos Macnndrow. T). Burns. Sir Robert Stout, and mnnv others), who gavo such distinguished and able sorvices, and exhibited such crent foresight in the cause of education in Ibis Dominion." The 7'omainder of the business was of a committee character.
