SCOTS COLLEGE

NEW BUILDINGS OFFICIALLY OPENED. The new buildings erected for Scots College at Aliramar were officially opened last night by the Aloderalor of the General Assembly, the Rev. W. Gray Dixon, M.A. Thoro-was a very largo attendance of visitors and parents of the boys, and -at the commencement of the ceremony not a vacant seat could bo found; in fact, very many people were unable to gain admission" and had to be content with rin outside position. The Key. Dr. Gibb, the chairman of the Board of Governors, presided, and on the same platform there was a representative gathering including the Moderator of the General Assembly and the College stuff. In calling upon .the Aloderator to address the gathering find To declare the Col'eg? open, Dr. Gibb said be was sorry that they liad not a more commodious room for such functions than the one in which they wore met. The school hall had got to be built. He was glad to see the Afoderatbr of the IG-eneral Assembly with them on such an occasion, and for his presence they would fee; grateful. The Moderator delivered an address in the course of which ho dwelt on the value of such scholastic institutions os Scots College, where he trusted that good work would continue to he done. He presented an enlarged photograph of the Rev. Dr. Gibb to the College and referred in glowing terms to the eminent services Dr. Gibb had rendered to the Church. In Dunedin and Wellington alike hia ministry had been brilliant. In inttroduciiKr Air G. H. TTtttov, AI.A.. too principal of the College, Dr. Qihb said that ho had been the chief factor in the success of the scheme for the erection of the College. If they had searched all Australasia thev could not have found.a finer head of the institution; his ability, tact, urbanitty, and practical wiedom wore beyond all praise.
