.HOB TAKES CHARGE IN NEBRASKA.

Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received September 29, 8.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, September 28. At Omaha, Nebraska, a mob numbering many thousands lynched a negro who was . charged with assaulting a white girl. They rampaged through the city, sot fire to the county courthouse. costing a million and a half dollars, pulled negroes off the tramcars, and beat and shot them. Many are behoved to be killed, and scores are wounded. The mob charged the city gaol, desiring to take out negro prisoners, whom the police carried off in automobiles. The police were powerless. The military are awaiting authorisation from Washington to take dontrol of the city. The mob broke into hardware stores and carried off firearms, which they used against the police and negroes. The firemen were unable to leave the courthouse, the mob cutting the hose. Negroes during the last six weeks have committed a largo number of assaults and robberies.
