The person to whom it was paid lost it and the loss-was reported to tho bank and payment stopped. Meanwhile tfie finder of the cheque had forged an endorso.mant on the cheque in the name of tlie persbn to whom it was made payable, and had tendered it at a city establishment in payment for a suit.of cloth* valued at £1 10s. This was on friozy r.ight, at an hour when it won id- not have heen easy to find out the genuineness of the Cheque' The firm, however, aeeer/ted the cheque, and wive odd in chance, together with the suit. nie cheque was paid in. hut payment was stepped. However, it is stated that tho ■lr<iw»r of (tho cheque will have to honour it, -what?v«v further action he may fake in the matter.
