SPECIAL PHIZES. Elniries for the Wairarapa Show aro due to close with the secretary, P.O. liox 25, Carterton, on Wednesday, Uctober yth. and intending exhibitors suouiu not delay in sending for a schedule. The programme as in past years caters jor ail sections, and the prizes awarded arc Injiaial. in addition to the classes’ prizes, challenge cups, rose howls, and special prizes aro to be competed for as follow, namely:— Horse Section. —A £25 cup for the challenge 7 ll m.ping, a £25 shield for the ladies’ hack., a £5 5s cup in the 11stone hacks, and a £l2 12s cup for the best yearling draught filly. Cattle Sections.—There is a cup valued ai £lO 10s for the exhibitor securing the most points in any ono section of purebred cattle, a £l7 17s lose bowl dor the best yearling Shorthorn bull, a £3 3s shield for the best Shorthorn bull shown, hi £l6 16s rose bowl for the best yearling Hereford bull, and £5 5s gold medal for the champion Hereford bull.
Friesians, Ayrshires, Milking Shorthorns and Jerseys.—Rose bowls valued at £ll Us, arc awarded for the best two-year-old boifer in each section. Mr William Barton s special prize of £5 os goes to the best Friesian cow three years old or over, by points. r lbo Eagle cup valued at £25 is awarded to the exhibitor securing the most points in Jersey female classes. There is a rose bowl valued at £25 for the best grade dairy heifer shown, a £l2 12s cup for the exhibitor securing the most points in grade daily heifer classes, a £5 5s cup for the best two or three-ycar-old heifer in milk, and a £25 tea and coffee service for the winner of the butter-fat competition. In the sheep sections there, is a £3O cup for the ex. hibitor scoring the most points in Romney or Lincoln sheep, a £ls 15s cup to the exhibitors securing the most points in Romney Marsh.sheep, a £lO 19s cup for the best Romney ram hogget and £l2 12s cups each for the l est Lincoln and Southdown ram hoggets. A rose bowl valued at £l2 12s for ibo best pen of freezing lambs and a £5 Ss rose bowl for the exhibitor gaining the largest number of points in the open classes for fat sheen and fat lambs. A £25 cup goes to the cheese-maker securing 'the highest aggregate grade points in ,the cheese classes. The ’adies
have not been overlooked, and Mrs McKenzie’s rose bowl will be awarded to the lady scoring the most points in the cooking classes, and, there is an £S 8s cup for the lady winning the most points in the sewing and faacywork classes. For the school children a £lO 10s shield is awarded to the school win, ning the garden competition.
