The potato marke'. has shown a little improvement, nc doubt owing to the absorption of Australian supplies. There are a . few nioi. inquiries, and some sales have beet made. Buyers are now offering jBB bto £8 10s at country stations, but then are not many offerings, as growers arc holding pretty firmly. There ia rot much inquiry for main crop seed potatoes, and they are worth from £* 8s to £6 10s. according to variety at. countr: stations. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile I Agency Co., I/td., report:— At our Palmerston North sale on Thursday, we had a small yarding of both sheep and cattle. Bidding was dull and in favour •of buyers. We quote:—Ewes in lamb 32s 6d to 37« 6d, | store ewes 15s 3d, yearling heiferß £4 15s, , 2-year empty s.h. heifers .£8 15s, empty I cows £9 12s 6d, empty heifers .£8 ss, cows and calves £6 2s 6d to .£9 15s, cows at drop £lB 10s, cows in.calf .£lO.
