Tho -Mount Read and Rosebery Mines, Ltd. reports for the fortnight ended August 28th, as follows: Hercules Mine—No, 5a adit to_ 386 feet, in mixed country, chiefly .calcitic schist. No. 5 level new adit to 390 feet, m quartzitic schist. . Rosebery Mine—Mam adit north drive to 500 feet, full width, of ore in face. No. 6 level, north drive reached ‘3j feet, in. lode formation, 3ft of. teirgrade ore on the hanging wall side. No. 5 level, drive north of No. 14 rise to--70 feet, fair-grade ore over full width, footwall only visible. No. 3 level, nortn drive to 319 feet in lode formation, 2ft of good grads or© on hanging wall side. MOUNT LYELL MINE.

The Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Co., Ltd. reports as under for the fortnight ended August 38th : ■ North Mount Lyell Mme-80oft level. No. 340 diamond drill bore, vertical, completed at 179 ft, penetrated good grade ore from start to 47ft, and from 1254 ft to 163 ft: No. 341 boro to B\{t; 923 ft level, sloping ore in No. 2 north drive; 1000 ft level, north drive to 363tt, partly in schist and partly in ore. Reduction Works—Two furnaces m blast during fortnight: 5156 tons of copper consigned to .the refinery, for the .current year. ....

Dalgoty and Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report having held their Marton sale on Monday, when a yarding of some 3500 hoggets came to hand also a tew pens of cattle. A total clearance was made at prices that were highly satisfactory to vendors, as follow Cull hogcrets 8s 4d, small do. 19s 3d to 22s 2d, medium do. 24s 3d to 25s 3d, mixed do. 25s lid, 28s 4d, to 80s 2d, wether do. 30s fid ewe do. 30s 3d. aged store cows £3, yearlings £4, rough coloured 18month steers £5.
