TOWN PLANNING

PROJECTED WELLINGTON CONFERENCE.

Mr S. Hurst Soagar, of Uflnstchuroh, recently visited Brisbane to take part as an unofficial representative of New Zealand in the Australian Town-planning Conference, which has become an annual function. “Mr Seagar,” stated the Hon. G. W; Bussell (Minister for Internal Affairs) yesterday, “is at present engaged in preparing a full report of the conference for the Internal Affairs Department. From the interview that I had with him in Christchurch, I am of opinion that a great deal of valuable information can be obtained for New Zealand from tho Brisbane Conference; and, consequently, I hope early in the New Year to be able to arrange for a TownPlaiming Conference to be held in Wellington, at which there will be represented the local governing bodies of the Dominion, together with those Min. isters whoso departments come into direct touch with the repatriation ot our soldiers, which appears to bo a subject especially arising out of townplanning movements in Australia. I hope that the resolutions passed by and tho papers read before the Australian Conference will bo of considerable assistance to tho Government ot New Zealand in dealing with this important problem.”
