BRITISH TREASURY AGREE--MEM'. AFFORDS M U CH-APPRECIATED RELIEF. With reference to the cable message received a day or two ago from Sir Joseph Ward, London, advising that the Home Treasury had agreed to pay 75 per cent, for all meat after three months in store, the Hon. Arthur Myers (Acting-Minister for Finance) informed a “Times” representative yesterday that, as the. reference contained in the message to the restriction on 80,000 tons measurement was not understood at this end, a cablegram had been dispatched to Sir Joseph Ward asking for an explanation. “A reply (said the Minister) has been received advising that the Home Treasury at first stipulated that no advance would bo made against new season’s intake till after 80,000 tons measurement were in store, which would have meant that as far as present stock, is concerned, no advance could have been madeThis restriction has been removed, affording much-appreciated relief to all concerned.”
