CANTERBURY v. WELLINGTON
Tho twenty-ninth interprovincia matoh between Canterbury and nolington takes, place _on Saturday afteinoon, at the Athletic Park. . Wellington has won on sixteen occasions, Canterbury on eleven, and one match (in I89S) was drawn. The representative programme, suspended since the war began w<is resumed last Saturday, when Wellington defeated Canterbury by 9— l o, at Christchurch, after a very hard-fought game. Press reports to hand show conclusively that Wellington bad all the luck of the game, and the southern critics are unanimous in their assertion that Canterbury could turn the tables on Wellington here were a heavier forward division sent up. As it is, the selectors are sending tho same pack to Wellington, and hope that tho bac«s, with the brilliant (J. E. Guiney as the star performer, will bo able to reproduce the form which, previous to last week’s match, led Canterbury’s supporters to believe they could win in Christchurch, especially as Canterbury in 1914 won (11—9), for the first time since 1907. Mr L. Simpson has been chosen as referee, and the following are the teams:— .... _ Wellington (black). —Full-back, R. Scott; three-quarters, C. Porter, M. Corner, and W. Thomas;. five-eighths, E. Tilyard and C. Morris; half-back, H. Nicholls; forwards, Albert Parker, A. Parker, T. Troy, B. Eborhard, A. Scott, J. Marks, H. Taucrcd, A. Bowo (wing). Canterbury (red and black), —-Fullback, A. D. Tench; three-quarters, A. McLeod, R, E. Boag, A. Grant; fiveeighths, J. C. Mullins and C. E. Guinoy; half-back, E. Fitzgerald; forwards, T. Crawshaw, 0. Hegarty, C. Murray, W. Cummings, E. Cummings, A. Henry, R. Drake, and 1. Gray (wing). A great contest is anticipated in the third-class final. Athletic v. Berhampore, commencing at tho Park at 1.30 p.m. on Saturday, as a “curtainraiser.” Mr Bert Tregear will referee. , SCHOOLS’ TOURNAMENT. Press Association. NEW PLYMOU-i-tx, August 2S. The third match of the schools’ tournament took place to-day, when Nelson College met tho High School.
