PLATING AT SOLDIERS. - The final demonstration of the work of the Wellington Free Kindergartens was held in the Masonic Hail, Bouleott street. Tiny-at ten dance .has increased daily.- and yesterday' afternoon there was- scarcely ■room for the numbers of onlookers who attended. , The Wellington South School children were going through . the morning work and the subject for. the day was soldiers in cams. The teachers talked about work in camp, what . clothes soldiers wear, where they sleep, and who look after them when ill. Table work carried out the subieot-of the talks. One class made tiny huts out of blocks, and ambulance wagons with paper tops, paper tents, each surmounted by ‘a flag was another class’s ■ wort. Mrs Moore, of the. Avenue, gave a delightful'' afternoon' teit on'Monday last tor Mrs Douglas Wilson, of Trentham. Besides the guest of honour, were Mrs Neamo, Mrs Atkinson, Mrs Gifford. Marshall, Mrs H. F. Christie, Mrs Izard, Mrs Pattle-Izett, Mrs D. Biddiford (Eangitikei) jMrs Glasgow, Mrs Reeve, Mrs ’Harold, Mrs Fairburn, Mrs Howard" Christie, Miss Hadfiold, and Miss Cowpar. Mrs J. Stevenson gave a very largo reception at “JMaumai” to welcome Mrs Stevenson (nee. Miss Carrow, of Dunedin). The day was beautifully fine, and there .must have been close on one hundred guests. Jackson, Miss Cowper, , Mrs Bussell Grace, and many others. On Tuesday evening the Male Choir repeated their jubilee concert in the soldiers’ ward at the hospital. The at present full of patients, and from start ,to finish . every item was loudly applauded. The choir items were given under the baton ,of,. Sir Honeycombe. while solos were sung by Messrs C. Wadnian, O. H.'Davis, and Hebditch, Miss Violet Price and. Sir W. Shepley had to repeat their delightful violin and concertina duet, flinging cheera wore given by ’the returned men for the choir, the latter ’ returning the compliment. Miss E. Bignell accompanied all the concert items. - - - ' Mrs Legge, of Carlton terrace, gave a pleasant tea to the.soldiers on Monday evening.
