LAUNCH FOUNDERS
THREE EMN DROWNED. FATALITY IN WANGANUI ROADSTEAD. Preas Association. WANGANUI, April 24. he oil launch Monarch foundered in the roadstead this morning with the result that three men were drowned. The names of two of the men are Patrick Begley and Oswald Lewia. The identity of the third man has not been established. . The launch left the river on Tuesday afternoon on a fishing trip, and during the night the weather became boisterous- Early this morning the launch was noticed making for port. A heavy sea was running at the time. When near the breakwater the launch was seen suddenly to tilt bow in air and disappear. Unfortunately the persons who saw the launch in difficulties did not report the matter at the time, with tho result that he harbour officials were unaware of he accident until.later m the day, when the mast and portion of the launch's fittings were washed ashore. The police are making a search of tne south beach for bodies.
