S.A. AMBULANCES
SIXTY OARS AT -WORK,
In December, 1917,-the Salvation Army Headquarters, London, sent £2OOO to the Red Cross. Society to provide additional cars for the Salvation Army ambulance unit in Franco (making a total of sixty cars), and also supplied twenty additional drivers. In his letter of thanks to General Bramwcll Booth, the Hon. Arthur Stanley wrote: —
".Wherever Salvation Army men are helping, ■ we hear nothing but goold' reports of thoir work. Sir Ernest Clarke (head of the British Red Cross in France) tells'me that your Ambulance Sections in France are quite the best of any in our service, and the more Salvation-Army men you can send him, the better he will be pleased'. "I would again take this opportunity of congratulating you, which 1 do with all my heart, upon the splendid record of your Army." On another occasion, roferring to the Salvation Army ambulance staff, Mr Stanley said:—"Those men have a marked influence for good upon all with whom they come in contact."
