The iiso of a motor lorry as a stand during a Red Cross street collection effort at Auckland had a segue! in the Police Court on Tuesday, wnen one_ of the officials connected with the effort was charged with a breach of the city by-laws in having left a lorry standing not parallel with the footpath. The charge was the result of a motorist having complained that he had slightly collided with the rear of the lorry. It was stated by the police that the lorry was in a well-lighted position, right under a bright street lamp, and talcing all the circumstances into account, including the fact that the motorist should have seen the lorry and avoided a collision, the magistrate merely convicted and discharged. Tho number of teeth at maturity is 32, or 16 in each jaw. Edison, the inventor, has never carried a watch in his life.
