KARORI AFFAIRS
MEETING OF COUNCIL. The fortnightly meeting l of the Karori Borough Council was held last evening, the Mayor (Mr B. G. H. Burn) presiding over the following councillors;—Messrs. W. Skegg, E. L. Tingey, T. L. Lewer, J. MacKenzie. H. B. Dryden, W. G. 13raUnock, and A. Hamilton. A letter was received from the Prime Minister (the Eight Hon. W. F. Massey) requesting that on Saturday. August 4th, the third anniversary of the declaration of war, the Mayor call a meeting of citizens of the borough 1 and carry the following resolution: —“That on the third anniversary of the declaration of a righteous war, this meeting- of the citizens of Karori records its inflexible determination to continue to a victorious ond the struggle in maintenance of those ideals of liberty and justice which are the common and sacred cause of the Allies." The Tramway Committee, in its report to the Council, recommended that the time-table of the proposed service of trams on the Karori lines, as suggested by the city tramway manager, bo approved, such time-table to come into force on September Ist. It also recom. mended that concession tickets should bo transferable. An amendment to defer consideration of the matter was defeated by the casting vote of the .chairman.
