Reardon, secretary of the Slaughtermen’s Federation, appeared on behalf of appellants. POLICE FORCE APPEALS. The exemption of the following members of the police force was asked for by the Commissioner of Police:Thomas F. Collins, Auckland; Matthew Brady, Auckland; William Henry Kearney, Auckland; Arthur William Honey, Auckland; Lewis Hunt, Auckland; Michael Fleming, sergeant, Auckland; Cornelius Murphy, Wellington; Florence Culloty, Palmerston North; Arthur' A. O’Donnell, Greymouth; Daniel Driscoll, Wellington; Michael Angland, Picton; Thomas William Sbeahon, Christchurch; Georgo Frederick Hodgson, Grey mouth; John McLeod. Christchurch. _ The appeals were adjourned indefinitely. - OTHER DEPARTMENTAL APPEALS. The Secretary of Agriculture, Mr F. S. Pope, appealed on behalf of Thom ad W. Urqnhart, assistant meat inspector, Gisborne. The application was dismissed, Urquhart being granted leave till August 22nd. An appeal made by the Oomissioner of Stamps' for Harold Ennor, a clerk in the Stamp Department, Auckland, was adjourned indefinitely. The case of Patrick O’Brien, prison warder, Wellington, was similarly adjourned. MISCELLANEOUS APPEALS. Leave till August 22nd was granted Arthur Strange Wilson, sheep farmer, of Lower Hutt. The appeal of Clarence Edric Blandford, railway workshop employee, of Petono, was allowed, appellant being under age. Charles William Clift chemist,: of Brooklyn, was granted leave till September 10th. Leave to August 22nd was granted to Frederick Thomas Constable, storeman, of Wellington. Frank Gordon Stafford, steward, appealed on the ground that he was not a resident of New Zealand and therefore not a reservist. His appeal was allowed. Tliroo months’ leave without pay was granted to James Alexander Lochhoad, a voluntary recruit belonging to the 80th Reinforcements. P. C. Mcßarroh. a bookkeeper 'in the employ of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., was granted leave till August 22nd. The board heard several appeals of seafaring men. The cases of the following were adjourned indefinitely:— Dajyia Jones, John McMillan Nicol, Doqglas Brebner, William James Esplin, Harold Raymond Young, Percy Payne, Campbell MoVioar, Donald Kerr Young, and Donald McKenzie. Cecil Joseph Gasquoine was granted leave till August 22nd.
