ARBITRATION COURT

WELLINGTON SESSION OPENED. SUNDRY APPLICATIONS. Tho Arbitration Court opened its sessions in Wellington yesterday. Mr Justice Stringer presided and had associated with him Messrs W. Scott, employers’ assessor, and J. McCullough, workers’ assessor. CARPENTERS’ DISPUTE SETTLED. In regard to the Wellington district carpenters’ and joiners’ dispute, Mr W. A. W. Grenfell, for the employers, stated that a complete agreement had been arrived at. There were some slight variations from tho awards in other centres. These, variations were entirely due to local conditions. For tho union Mr G. W. Booth endorsed Mr Grenfell’s _ statement._ The award is to come into operation on July 2nd and to hold for two years. WOOLLEN WORKERS’ AWARD. It was announced in regard to tho Wellington Woollen Mills’ dispute that a complete agreement/ had been arrived at before the Conciliation Council. The award was similar to tbat in operation in other centres. , The recommendations of the council were made into an award, the terms of which have been already published. Mr'Grenfell appeared for the employers and Mr E. Kennedy for the union. . CASE WITHDRAWN. The Inspector of Awards (Mr G. H. Lightfoot) stated that on further consideration it had been decided to withdraw the case Inspector of Awards v. Galvin and Co., for an alleged breach as, an application for interpretation had been filed. HOTEL-WORKERS’ DISPUTE. Representing the Wellington HotelWorkers’ Union. Mr El. Kennedy stated that a complete agreement had been arrived at. The matter is to be again mentioned on Thursday morning. TO-DAY’S CASES. The following' compensation cases were set down for hearing to-day: Rudolph Hirter v. W. Cable and Co., Dusky v. Gannaway and Co.; Catherine Carey v. Government Insurance Commissioner; Benjamin Clifton v. Government Insurance Commissioner. MISCELLANEOUS APPLICATIONS. An application for interpretation in the furniture trades’ award is to be heard to-morrow. On the application of the respective anion secretaries, the applications tor amendments of the Federated Cooks and Stewards’ Union, the grocers assistants and drivers’, awards were withclrflAvn. , «, » i it _ Five new parties were added to tne Wellington- Federated .
