ALLEGED MURDER
SEVERAL ARRESTS VICTIM BURIED IN THE BUSH. Preai Association. AUCKLAND, March 21. The accidental discovery of the skeleton of a man in the bush in Victoria Valley, botween Kaitaia and Hokianga about a fortnight ago. has led to ft dramatic sequel. Eight Maoris (five men and three woman) have been arrested on a charge of murder. Constable Sefton, of Kaitaia, at the time of the discovery, stated that tho remains were those of -Mitai Aperabana, whoso death occurred in August, 1913. Tho body had evidently beep buried near the surface of tho ground, as the skeleton had become exposed.' It was further stated that there was suspicion of foul play, and tba-t a good many persons might bo found to have been concerned in the alleged assault upon deceased. Detective Cummings went to Kaitaia a week ago to investigate, with the result that the arrests mentioned were made. An inquest will bo hold on Wednesday next at Kaitaia.
