LAND SALE

THE ALLEN STREET ESTATE, EASTBOURNE. ■ There was a large attendance yesterday afternoon at Messrs Harcourt and Co.’s auction rooms, when they offered for sale the above estate. Before submitting the property, the auctioneer, Air S. Haroourt, referred to the great advance, in settlement that had taken place in this seaside borough during the past few years, and the very splendid class of building now being erected. The first section submitted was No. 38, with a total area of 3 acres 2; roods 23.5 ipehches; " together’ ;■ with' 1 the , 'fonrrocimed, cottage thereon. .The .buyer of'this -r section had the option of taking the adjoining section, 38, containing 2d acres 3 roods 20 perches, with a 3-roomed' cottage- and stable,, at the same price. ’ After some spirited bidding, these’.were sold to Mr J. Orchiston for the sum of £4lO ©aoh. Section 29 was next offered, and was sold for £4O. Section 19, with a frontage to the county road and the Esplanade, was sold for £lO5, and the adjoining section. No. 20, was knocked; down for £llO. - The following are the numbers of sections sold, the prices paid, and the purcasfcrs;

The remaining unsold sections are now in the hands of the auctioneers for private sale at the upset prices, as advertised in our auction columns. After the Allen street estate was submitted, the auctioneers, offered sections ,4 and 5, the Marine Parade, about five minutes’ walk from tho Kona Bay wharf, . with a total frontage of •80 ' feet 6 inches by an average depth of 128 feet. After some very spirited bidding, these were sold to Mr A. Campbell, as agent, at £4 10s per foot, ho taking both sections. Tho auctioneers then submitted sections 14 and 18 and P. 201, having a frontage to the county road and the beach also section 83, Toatotu road, hut both lots were passed in, and are no\v for private - sale a-t- £175 and £IOO respectively. No. 6, Buto street, city, was (ben submitted, hut did not reach the reserve of £320. at which price the auctioneers will now sell. Ito total sales for the day realised £1727 15s.
