At a largely-attended meeting of the Morningtop Presbyterian Church it was decided to “call’’ the Key. W. Trotter, of Groymouth (reports the Press Association). His Excellency Monsignor Cerretti, who is visiting the Dominion as delegate from the Pope, was tendered a public reception and conversazione in the Dunedin Art Gallery Hall last night (reports .the Press Association). Addresses of welcome were presented by the Bishop and priests and the laity. The distinguished visitor replied with a speech of thanks to all who had helped to make the proceedings a success. His Excellency, will leave Dunedin to-mor-row for a two-daye’ trip to Queenstown, leaving Dunedin for the north on Satnr. day.
Captain G- G. Smith, Superintendent of Mercantile Marine, returned to Wellington yesterday from holiday leave, and resumed duty.
