WINTER NEEDS
WARM CLOTHING FOR SOLDIERS DEFENCE MINISTER STATES REQUIREMENTS. Recently the Minister for Defence (Hon. J. Allen) has been in communication with the Imperial authorities and with the staff at Gallipoli regarding -tine needs of the New Zealand troops during the winter campaign that seems now to have become inevitr aole. He informed a "New Zealand Times" representative yesterday that he had been advised what the requirements of the soldiers wero likely, to be. The troops would want Cardigan jackets, mittens, etc., to assist them to face the winter blasts. They would also need sou'-westers, water proofs, and oil-skins of (suitable colours as protection against wet, and there would be. a demand for trench boots.
