The anniversary of Captain Cook’s first landing in Now Zealand was celebrated to-day by the laying of wreaths on Cook’s monument from the Royal Colonial Institute and local bodies. A cable was received from the Institute of the London ■ Council of. Fellows of the Royal Colonial Institute : — “\Vo heartily join m reverence for . the memory of Captain Cook, who opened the southern seas for the British race.”
