HOCKEY LADIES’ PATRIOTIC EFFORT

At the Basin Reserve to-morrow, tho hockey ladies’ effort on behalf of tho wounded soldiers' fund will commence at 3 p.m., and continue daily until the following Saturday. Throe matches will be played each day between the leading provincial representative teams, in order- to decide the ladies’ hockey championship of New Zealand for the present season. The contestants include Wnirarapa (present champions), Poverty Bay, and Canterbury (the only two provinces which defeated the visiting English ladies last season), and Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu, Wanganui, and 'Wellington. The gross proceeds are being devoted to the wounded soldiers’ fund. The tou'Vnament will be played under the patronage and jn the presence of Her Excellency Lady Liverpool.
