WAR LOAN
SEVEN HUNDRED MILLIONS SUBSCRIBED
By Telegraph—Press Association —Copy fish* (Received July 11, 4 p.m.) LONDON, July 11. Barclay’s Bank has subscribed twelve millions to tho war Iggn. The Joint Stock Banks have decided to double their subscriptions to the November war loan, making for the new loan roughly two hundred millions. It is estimated that the subscriptions frill bo at least seven hundred millions. Mr McKenna announces the result on Mondav. Lord Michelam subscribed £1,100,000. Typical subscriptions include ; —The Underground Railway, £BOO-000: Midland Bailwav, £1,125,000; White Star Co., £350,000; King Edward’s Hospital fund, £105,000; Harrods, £BO,000 : Yorkshire Miners, £50,000; Dockers’ Union, £IO,OOO. The City and Midland Bank and Lloyd’s Bank each applied for twentyone millions, and the London County and Westminster Bank for twenty millions, of the war loan.
