RUGBY CONTROL ANNUAL MEETING OP DOMINION UNION. The annual meeting of tho New Zealand Rugby Union was held last evening in the Accountants’ Chambers. The president. Mr J. Arneil (Auckland), was in the chair, and tho following delegates were present: Auckland, Dr. McEvedy and Mr G. H. Dixon; South Auckland, Mr J. H. Langhton; Taranaki. Mr M. J. Crembie; Wanganui, Messrs A. Laurenson, G. Spriggens, and G. Pownall; Bay of Plenty. Mr D. Weir; Manawatu, Mr A. M. Ongley; Wairarapa, Messrs R. J. Southgate and A. Booth; Wellington, Messrs E. A. Little, G. Howe. J. H. Lynsky, E. O. Hales, and A. C. Kitto; Nelson, Messrs Akers and Shi-impton; Marlborough, Mr J. O’Sullivan; Buffer, Mr W. Reedy: West Coast, Messrs W. Perry and J. F. Wilson; Canterbury, Messrs G. H. Mason and It- T. Watkins; South Canterbury. M’r H. EL Fraser; Otago. Messrs H. Harris C. Byre, G. C. Facbe. J. Murray, and R. Abbott; Southland, Mr T. Meredith.

The chairman, in speaking to the motion for adopting the annual report, referred to tho success of tho tour of the New team in Australia. Regarding the question of finance, he said it appeared to him that the executive wouiu bavo ’ to dandle the reins very tightly, to conserve the funds of the union. After referring to the war (as reported separately), the president thanked the union for having elected him to tho position he had occupied during the year. The report and balance-sheet were unanimously adopted. Mr Dixon moved the following motion standing in the name of Mr Sheahan (Auckland), and it was seconded by Mr Watkins—" That in all elections for offiee at meetings of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union, every delegate shall vote for the required full number for every such office.’’ The question of the scope of the motion was raised, and on the suggestion of Mr Fache the motion was amended to apply to meetings of the council of the union. In this form the motion was carried. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows Patron, His Excellency the Governor (Lord Liverpool). President, Mr G. H. Mason (Canterbury). Spriggens; Manawatu, Mr J. F. Manning; Vvairarapa, Mr D. K. Logan; Wellington, Mr iG- F. C. Campbell: Nelson, Mr R. W. Styles; Marlborough, Mr J.. Lord; Buffer, Mr J. Colvin, M.P.; West Coast, Mr W. T. Flynn; Canterbury, Mr F. T. Evans; South Canterbury, Mr W. Drake; Otago, Mr H. Harris; Southland, Mr A. J. On the motion of Mr Dixon, seconded by Ma- Fraser, it was decided that the Appeal Council be located in Wellington for the ensuing year, and that the members be those who held office last year—namely. Messrs V. R. Meredith, M. J. Crembie, and A. Campbell. In taking the chair, Mr Mason thanked the delegates for the honour conferred upon him, and promised to do hie best for New Zealand Rugby in the position which he was now to occupy. Some discussion took .place on the amount of money to be voted towards school football. Mr Dixon moved-that the grant be JE100; and an amendment was moved by Mr E.- Wylie in favour of 46150 being voted. • The amendment was carried. A further amendment, by Mr Laughton, that the union subsidise grants by affiliated unions by. A for A up to £lO. was defeated.! A special vote of thanks was passed to Mr', E. Wylie for his excellent work as lon. treasurer, and votes of thanks were also accorded Messrs N. Galbraith and R. M. Isaacs, who have retired from the management committee; A motion hv Mr Harris, that the union pay half the expenses of one delegate from each union, was lost.
