INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION

MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. A meeting of the general committee of tho .Wellington' Provincial Indus-’ trial Association was held .last evening, Mr C- B. Norwood presiding. There were also present—Messrs BuR, Campbell, Thompson, Rouse, Cable, : Sherwood, Ballinger, Read, R. J. HardieBhaw, Allen, Eglau, Evans, and Barron. ’

The Wellington Amateur Operatic Societv, were elected members of the society.

A report upon the lines of Mr La Trobe’s report was submitted by tho secretary (Mr H. F. Allen) of a subcommittee’s visit to the Wellington Technical College on May 4th. The report stated that the numbers attending the various classes of the college showed a small decrease over those for the previous year, but were better than those of 1912. As regards regularity of attendance, the record for tho day technical school was very satisfactory, whilst in the associated classes the majority of the students made good attendance, except during tho third and fourth quarters of the year, when tho attendance was badly affected bv the absence of students on military duty, or working overtime in place of those away on military duty. In the senior civil service examination: 19 students completed the examination, four passed in five subjects, seventeen passed in four subjects, thirteen - passed in throe sub-, jects, and twenty-five passed in two subjects-

The chairman said he thought that it was simply marvellous tho work put' through at the college considering the disadvantageous conditions under which the staff and students worked. He trusted that Mr La Trobo (the director) would soon be able to continue his good work in a much better college. . Accounts amounting, to £3 5s .wore passed for payment.
