PETONE’S PROPOSALS. At last night's meeting of the Pete nn Borough Council, Councillor Forsyth moved; “That the Retone Borough Council approach tho AVellington City Council and the Hawke s 'Bav Fishing Company for particulars regarding the AVellington municipal fish market, with tho object of establishing a fish market in Potone. Councillor Forsyth said ho bad made inquiries; and was sure that a hsfi market would ho a complete 'success. Unfortunately, the establishment of a ftsh market would affect some nsnjwmdore in the town, but it was the middleman who .reaped the beneht every time, and his profits would be handed direct to the consumer if the council sold fish. Tho working man «ras the most cheerful giver in the fcomraunity, and if the prices of commodities were kept down, the workers would bo in a better position to give (towards the relief funds The motion was seconded by Councillor Townsend, who thought it was a measure in tho right direction, and was resolved to defer consideration until the information required was obtained.
