At the Methodist Conference, on the question of tho appointment of a Dominion secretary for foreign missions a most animated debate took place. A vote resulted in the proposal being postponed for another year. The committee on military affairs re commended the Rev. W. Walker (Dunedin) for appointment as permanent military chaplain to the forces at Trentham, and this was agreed to’ unanimously. ... The requests of the following ministers to Become permanent supernumeraries were granted:—Revs. G. Bond, T. G. Carr, Joseph Sharp, Joseph J. Mather. IT. R. Dewsbury and Cornelius Griffin. The Rev. Lewis Hudson returns to circuit work. The Rev. G. Bond presented the report of the Home Mission committee recommending the continuance of the office of Home Mission secretary. On a vote being taken, the resolution was carried hy 10 ( votes to 31.
