At a meeting of the Labour Day committee of the Butchers’ Union last night, the secretary reported that donatione to the prize fund had been received from the Gear Meat Company, Mr J. Farley, and'Mr J. Symonds, while promises of donations had been made by Mr P. €■ Luxford and Mr r - Wilkin. It was decided to award prizes to the best decorated cart and horse In the procession, and also for the most tradesraanlike turn-out. In order to encourage boys employed in the trade, three prizes will he awarded for the best displays by youth*, either on horseback or bicycle. Information was received that several of the employers would make displays in the procession. The committee decided that if the necessary arrangements could be completed, the union should make an interesting working display.. The Slaughtermen’s Union offered the use of a banner which was sent from Mew South Wales; this was accepted with tlianks, and should tho weather be favourable will prove an interesting feature of the procession.
