NO PAYMENT FOR MEMBERS. The Harbours Amendment Bill (Hon. Mr Fisher) was considered in Committee. ' . The Minister announced his intension of dropping clause 4, providing for payment of- harbour board members, and this course was agreed to on the voices without discussion. Mr Witty raised objection to clause 15 being hurried through without full consideration by ‘ tbe local bodies. This clause provided for the harbour board sharing the - cost of an election with a meal authority. The Minister said that perhaps it was unfair to tho local bodies not to allow them time to consider the clause, which the House , agreed to delete. - The bill was reported With amendments.
