WAGNER RECITAL

A great number of requests hare been received by the city organist to again , repeat that splendid Wagner recital, and Mr Page will to-night submit a complete series of compositions by this popular composer. Of special interest will be the two movements from Wagner’s great opera, “The Bing,” viz., “The Entry of the Gods into Walhalla,” from “Das Rheingold,” and the woodland "music from “Siegfried.” “The Entry of the Gods into Walhalla” has been played by Mr Page at one of his former recitals, but the woodland music from “Siegfried" will be played for the first time. A feature of this recital will be the second half of the programme, wh'ch will be devoted to the whole of “Tristan and Isolde.” The city organist is playing the prelude to the first act, the prelude to the third act, and the closing scene, which includes Isolde s great love song which was sung over the dead body of Tristan. The city organist has given lengthy programme notes of this opera, which will enable his audience to get a greater appreciation of the work and a fuller knowledge of the opera.
