ROYAL HUMANE SOCIETY AWARDS. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July TO. The Court of Directors of the Royal •Humane Society made the following awards to-day:— •Case of Cora Maney (14) and Leila Maney (12), for rescuing Ruth McKay (9) from drowning at Waipawa on January 30th, 1914; framed certificate to each. „ , • . _ , Case of Michael Fahey Boyle (Jo), for attempting to rescue Albert Charles Wyatt (8) from drowning at Dargaville on January 19th, "914; letter of commendation; Case of William Guy Edwards (20), for rescuing Frederick Arthur Morgan (10) and attempting to rescue William Teviotdale (30) from drowning at Foxton on May Ist, 1914; bronze medal. Case of John Patrick Oulhane (34), for attempting to rescue William Massey (28) from explosion and lire at Soltar Works, Freeman’s Bay, on July 25th, 1913; silver medal. Case of Joseph Fou (28), for rescuing ten persons from ,at Otama, Kuaotuuu, on December 26th, 1913. At Otama on the date mentioned above, a boat capsized containing several persons, about two chains from the beach, throwing the occupants into very deep water. All would certainly have been drowned, as they could not swim, had it not been for the prompt action of Pou, who got eight of the party ashore, but had some difficulty in rescuing the other two ladies, as their feet had become entangled in a .rope of the boat; but after some exertion He succeeded in doing so. A gold medal was awardcd* Case of John K-obert Joromson (42), for rescuing Thomas Sunmonds (57) from drowning at Wellington on January 28th, 1914; letter of commendation. Case of George Hammerton (21), for rescuing Arthur King (7) from drowning at Mercer on February 18th, 1914 ; letter of commendation. Case of Leslie Carl Lipsoombe (14), for rescuing John Williams (9) from drowning at Waiharaha beach, Onehunga, on January 14th, 1914; framed certificate. . Case of Joseph Pereira (35), for attempting to rescue. Thomas Lowe (4UJ from drowning at Ocean Beach, Dunedin, on January 18th, 1914; bronze Case of James Gunn (26), for rescning Thomas E. Hanlon and attempting to rescue Arthur Pole from drowning at To Araroa on May Bth, 1914; bronze medal.'
