FOG IN AUCKLAND
SHIPPING DELAYED AND PERRIES DISORGANISED. Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 10. Since an early hour this morning, a heavy fog has enveloped the harbour end Gulf. Old sea captains assert that never before in tbeir experience has 'the fog lasted so long. Coastal shipping is delayed, and the sailings of several steamers have been postponed. Tho ferry steamer Condor stranded near St. Hellier’s Bay this morning, but floated with tho rising tide. To-niah t the small steamer Minerva iB reported to bo ashore in tho Gulf; Wrt the report is not confirmed. TITo barque John Craig, from Newcastle, has evidently anchored in tho Gull. Ferry captains are having an anxiohs time, but are guided by sirens and foghorns, which at present are going continually at various points.
