RAILWAY CROSSING ACCIDENT

Press Association. AUCKLAND. May 22. A collision occurred to-day between a train and a cart at the Onslow road railway crossing, Kingsland. A baker’s cart, driven by Carlton Hepworth, was crossing the line when a tram struck the horse, carrying it with the shafts of the vehicle across the cattlestops. The horse was killed, and the cart was greatly damaged. Hepworth jumped clear, and suffered only minor injuries. This crossing is a particularly dangerous one. A similar accident, with fatal results, occurred there a few months ago.
